Congratulations you're engaged!
When's the wedding date?
This momentous decision is unique for every couple; most couples plan to be engaged for at least 9-12 months before the big date. That should give you all the time you need to try on every dress within 50 miles and pick your ideal wedding location.
There are a lot of things to consider when picking the big date; here are the some things for you to ponder.
Can MOM make it?
Sometimes the only important thing is making sure that your family and close friends (wedding party) can make the date. To this end it is important to ask the people vital to your special day if they have any plans they can’t cancel before you make your final
decision.
Special Occasions
Sometimes getting married on a special occasion just ads to the romance and personality of the wedding. Some couple choose to get married on the day that there parents wed, or on the anniversary of the couples first date or on a holiday that has significant meaning (see Holidays below) Obviously you may not be able to get married on that special day if your church is previously booked, or if your parents plan to be on a cruise to celebrate their anniversary but you can probably get pretty close. Whatever date you choose, you should share the special reason with your guest in the wedding program.
Season
Not everyone dreams of a being a spring bride, some people prefer the pure white look and feel of winter or the care free days of summer when more of their guest are likely to be able to make it. Whatever season you choose just remember that the weather will greatly effect the mood and personality of the wedding.
Money and Cost
June, August and September are often very competitive when it comes to getting the church, baker, cater and other vendors to serve your wedding. Like everything else supply and demand drive the wedding industry. Prices are always higher in the busier months and on the busier days. Consider planning a wedding in January, March, or December, it will cost lot less because when to marry when you the vendors know that they won’t have someone else on the phone asking for the same date in a couple of minutes. To that end weekdays can also be much less expensive as most vendors’ schedules will be open on a Tuesday night when there is no chance of them squeezing you in on a Saturday nights.
Holidays
Valentines Day is the busiest wedding day of the year in Vegas. Would-be couples often spend 4-5 hours in line to get a marriage license. Though a Valentines Day wedding may not be your style, maybe getting married under the fireworks of the 4 th of July is. If you have a holiday that is special to both of you, that may be the perfect day for you to say your vows.
No-way-no-how dates
Depending on your religion, location, and budget there are some days you should just avoid. Big holidays make it tough for people to get away from their families to share your special moment. (SANS the December 23 rd date) Also you may want to consider other things like tax season. It may be tough for your guest to have fun at a April 14 th wedding when they are worried about getting their tax return in the mail before midnight.
What every date you choose, remember to have fun and in the end the only thing that really matters is that you are together with the person you love.
