(Bridesmaid hair styles made
easy)
Why is it so difficult to make
such an easy decision? How should I do my hair on my wedding day? How should the
bridesmaids style their hair?
Part of the difficulty lies in
the fact that you will be looking at that hair style in photos and on video for
years to come. You have spent so much time picking the perfect dress, and the
perfect husband; you sure don’t want your hair style to ruin those wedding
pictures.
Start by picking up some of you
favorite magazines (some bridal magazines as well). Look for models that have a
similar hair type as you and cut out the photos. Remember, your hair type will
limit what the stylist can do for you. Is your hair straight, thick, thin, long,
short…? Limit your photo selection to hair styles that match your hair type.
When you go to your trial run with your stylist, take these photos along and be
willing to listen to her/his advice.
Will you wear you hair Up or
down?
Try to choose a style that will
suit your face shape most round faces suit high up-dos and sleek long styles. If
your face is long you will be better served by styles that have width and
volume. Would you be comfortable with all your hair pulled away from your face?
Consider having some hair up and some down, or leaving wispy bits around you
face to soften. If you have a low-cut or off-the-shoulder dress will you feel
comfortable with a little skin exposed?
Do you prefer Straight or
Curly?
Once you have decided to wear you
hair up or down, the possibilities are endless. Curls are soft and romantic, as
are pleats, twists, plaits and variations to the bun. Or perhaps you prefer more
contemporary spikes and twists. Try to reflect your personality in your bridal
hairdo, but don't be a fashion victim, or you'll laugh at your bridal album will
be more humorous than romantic in 20 years.
Tiara's and
veils
As a rule, the hair shouldn't be
worn longer than the veil.
Tiara's and veils should
compliment your hairstyle but not hide it. If you have chosen a large
floor-length veil, your hairstyle needs to be strong enough to hold it's shape
until you take the veil off.
Pre-Wedding Trial
Don’t take chances, do a
pre-wedding trial of your hair style for you and your bridesmaids. Six months is
not to far off to plan your hair style. |
