Most brides spend so much time planning their dream wedding, but when it comes to choosing transportation they go straight to the yellow pages and start calling and usually opting for the lowest priced company. In most cases this can be the biggest mistake choosing the least expensive company may not mean the most reliable. Did you ever think about what you would do if the limousine were late or worse what if it never showed up?
Here are some important considerations and questions to ask when selecting your transportation company.
Each transportation company will probably offer different prices, different makes and models, features and prices. It would be wise to visit before you decide which company to rent. You want to take this opportunity to view their vehicles this would include the interior as well as the exterior.
Here are some important questions to ask
- Vehicles - ask year, make and model. Ask what colors the vehicles come in. Don’t assume it will be white, make sure they have the color (s) you choose available to you on your specific date. Ask how many passengers it will seat comfortably, you don’t want the vehicle showing up and not being able to accommodate your party comfortably. Keep in mind everyone needs a little extra room for the dresses, this isn’t a night out on the town where being comfortable may not be an issue.
- Price- ask how they base their prices, is it based on hours, is it based on distance, is gratuity included in the price? Ask what is included in this price, most wedding packages come with complimentary champagne, decorations, red carpet and a just married sign. Ask about discounts for instance, if you booked additional vehicles for you wedding or your bachelor/bachelorette party with them would you receive a percentage off your price.
- Chauffeurs- ask if their chauffeurs are trained, how well do they know the area, you don’t want a chauffeur showing up and you are giving them directions as to where to go, a properly trained chauffeur should be familiar with the area. Ask if their chauffeurs are properly licensed and insured. Ask what the chauffeur wears, will he/she be wearing a tuxedo? You want to choose a company who puts a high emphasis on their chauffeurs personality and professionalism.
Once you have narrowed it down and you want to reserve your transportation, make sure you are provided with a contract, having a contract guarantees that you are going to get exactly what you ordered.
- The contract should specifically outline the date of service, arrival times, and location(s) the color, make and model and year.
- The cost of the rental should also be on the contract.
- Most companies require a deposit to reserve the vehicle. Make sure on your contract there is a copy of their cancellation policy.
- It’s very important to confirm your reservation the week before your wedding date.
- Go over all specifics and make sure they have all directions.
